Coraline

Coraline? What kind of name is that you may wonder?  Its the name of young lady
played by Dakota Fanning. Along with the Mother played by Terri Hatcher and the father played by Charlie Jones. Coraline is a stop motion film directed by Henry Selick. Designed by Neil Gaiman and brought to life in 2009.

Coraline is a movie about a young girl who moves to a new house and discovers a small door in the wall of her new house, when she asks her mother to unlock it for her they find nothing but a brick wall, they think nothing of it. Until later that night a mouse from the other world sneeks through the door, leads Coraline to the other world which causes a large amount of problems for her. She meets her other mother which Coraline thinks is the most amazing person at the time...for the time being that is, she thinks the same of her other father as well. As time goes by she realizes that everything isnt what it seems and isnt perfect. SPOILER! Dont read any further if you havent seen the movie.
As Coralines other mother traps her in the other world Coraline realizes what shes trying to do so she tries to escaspe, she makes it home but realizes that she has taken her real parents to the other world and is holding them hostage. Coraline goes back into the other world and makes a deal with her other mother that if she wins a game she is allowed to go home, back to her normal life, with her real parents. She does all the other mother wanted and fights to get back home..does she make it home? youll have to watch the movie and see!
The costume desgin of this movie took time and patience none the less, it took a lot of time to plan out what each character would wear and when. Take into concideration that its a stop motion film so costumes have to be made for almost every movement the character makes, say Coraline falls in the dirt, 4 to 8 costumes may need to be made for them do do the scene of her falling in the dirt.
Set design is another aspect of filiming along with costume design they have to go through and make the set peices move one at a time for an example flowers, if they wanted to make the flowers move in the brease they would have to take a shot of the scene and then go back and move the flower every time to look like they are flowing in the wind.
All together the movie looked prettty good they did a good job on costume design and set design, although some scences lookes as though they were still a bit slow in reasction time. The story line its self seems kind of dark for a childrens movie, other than that the movie was all over done pretty well.

  1. Overall, the whole work included all the main points of information about Coraline. But, I also noticed a lot of simple grammar mistakes. Along with grammar mistakes such as misspellings and punctuation errors, I saw a lot of run-on sentences. I see where you are trying to go with these run-on sentences, just add a comma or make it a whole new sentence. I don't think the background in the first paragraph had enough information about the film. There could be more on the background like when it was made, how it is based off a book...

  2. Overall i thought your article was very informative. You had all you links and your pictures where very intriguing. There where a few spelling errors that could have been fixed and you tended to give a reveal a little to much about what happened instead of leaving it as a cliff hanger. i really enjoyed how you included about how much detail and time it took to make the costumes or to simply move a flower. i thought you had a very professional tone throughout your article and i really enjoyed reading it.

  3. The review is well structured, but could be better with more detail. The recap was well put but may have gone close to the end although it was nit given away and leaves the reader wanting to see what is next. I only saw one technical aspect from the movie covered in this review. The spoiler alert was nice to have though. OVerall more detail can make this better.

  4. Great Job! All your links worked properly. Your pictures worked well. Your tone was very interesting and consistent. You had some nice commentary throughout your background info, however there were a few somewhat representative phases through the article that were somewhat distracting. I liked how well you expressed your opinion, but you could have added just a little more on how you felt about the movie.

  5. I think that you had a nice summary of the movie, I believe it was pretty accurate. The flow was nice, and it was an easy read; it also had nice detail. There were a few spelling and grammatical errors, but not too many. The pictures and links chosen were useful and all placed in appropriate places. It looks like you actually took your time with this. All in all, nicely done.
